What is Charlotte’s Fund?
Charlotte’s Fund, formerly known as the Annual Fund, is an invitation for our entire SCCS community to come together to sustain the mission of South City Community School. Through the generosity of families, grandparents, churches, and community partners, Charlotte’s Fund helps provide the people, resources, and experiences that make a rich and beautiful Charlotte Mason education possible.
Why does SCCS need Charlotte’s Fund if families already pay tuition?
Tuition is the primary way SCCS sustains the education our students experience each day, but it does not cover the full cost of operating our school. Currently, tuition meets approximately 75% of our operational needs.
As a missional school, SCCS is committed to making an intentionally accessible Christian education available to families from a wide range of circumstances. Charlotte’s Fund helps bridge the gap between tuition revenue and the actual cost of providing an SCCS education without passing the full financial responsibility directly to families.
What does Charlotte’s Fund support?
Charlotte’s Fund helps sustain the people, programs, and resources that allow our students and school community to flourish, including:
- Tuition assistance and variable tuition
- Student Support Services
- Teacher reimbursements and appreciation
- Classroom supplies and educational resources
- Campus safety and technology
- Middle school curriculum enrichment
These investments support the daily work of providing a rich and beautiful education for every child at SCCS.
Why is the Annual Fund now called Charlotte’s Fund?
Charlotte’s Fund reflects our school’s educational philosophy and the broader mission of making a Charlotte Mason education accessible to families in South City St. Louis.
While our previous Annual Fund was a short fundraising campaign, Charlotte’s Fund represents a year-round invitation for our entire community to share in sustaining the mission of SCCS.
What is the fundraising goal for Charlotte’s Fund?
Our goal is to raise $565,000 by July 31, 2027, to support the operational needs of SCCS.
Last year, generous donors and church partners contributed $585,000 to help sustain our school, including more than $58,000 raised through our Annual Fund campaign.
Charlotte’s Fund brings these shared efforts together under one name, reflecting the generosity of our entire school community.
What does 100% family participation mean?
During October, we’re inviting every SCCS family to prayerfully consider making a gift to Charlotte’s Fund, with a goal of reaching 100% family participation by October 31.
We recognize that generosity and sacrifice look different for every family. Our goal is not equal giving, but shared participation.
Whether your gift is $1 or $1,000 every contribution represents a meaningful commitment to our school and its mission.
How much should our family give?
There is no required gift amount. We invite each family to prayerfully consider what meaningful and joyful participation looks like for their household.
We recognize that tuition is already a significant financial commitment for many families. Charlotte’s Fund is not an expectation that families give equally or beyond their means, but an opportunity for everyone to participate as they are able.
Every gift, every size matters.
Is Charlotte’s Fund only for current SCCS families?
Not at all! Charlotte’s Fund invites the entire SCCS community to participate, including parents, grandparents, caregivers, alumni families, churches, friends, and community partners.
