Summer Camp 2021

Students entering PK4 through seventh grade are invited to join us for SCCS Summer Camp 2021! All are welcome—enrollment is open to non-SCCS students. We are offering four weeks of in-person day camp this summer following our school-year pandemic protocols.

The camp day runs from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the option to enroll in daily Stay & Play from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Campers will bring their own snack and lunch to camp.

Each of the four camp weeks will offer age-appropriate activities with unique offerings each week. The camp day is a balance of fine motor and gross motor play (for example, sports and handwork) and campers will be encouraged and challenged to try new skills and engage with their interests.

At SCCS we see Summer Camp as a time to come together in a more relaxed, fun way while still cultivating the love of learning. Summer programs are also a great opportunity for newly enrolled SCCS students to get familiar with the school community and start building meaningful relationships with other campers and staff. We hope you will join us!

Youth Leadership Opportunities

SCCS Summer Camp, Weeks 1-4

Rising eighth and ninth grade SCCS students are invited to apply for the role of Youth Servant Leader at SCCS Summer Camp. Students may apply for one or more of the four weeks of camp:

Week One: June 14-18
Week Two: June 21-25
Week Three: July 12-16
Week Four: July 19-23

This is an unpaid, volunteer position intended to give students training and experience in leadership roles working with younger children under the guidance of adult teachers. Each Youth Servant Leader will be assigned to a Lead Teacher and specific age group (PK4—K; 1st—3rd; or 4th—7th) for the duration of the camp week. Some examples of responsibilities include:

  • Leading a small group study or scripture lesson
  • Forming a chapel team and preparing a skit, song, or reading with the other 8th/9th graders
  • Teaching a skill or activity where they can offer their own personal expertise (i.e., soccer, chess, handwork, drawing, Reader’s Theater, etc.)
  • Leading other activities and games like capture the chicken, freeze dance, etc.

Candidates who apply must commit to the entire week for which they are assigned and be present from 8:40 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. each camp day. If your student is interested in this opportunity to serve and grow this summer, please fill out THIS FORM. Laura Lee Bausell will assign volunteer weeks based on interest, preference, and availability, and will follow with parents and participating students with more information.
