Ridge Haven Cono

Ridge Haven is a PCA camp and retreat center based in Brevard, North Carolina. In recent years they have established an additional Midwest location in Walker, Iowa, called Ridge Haven Cono. Walker, Iowa is a five-hour drive from St. Louis, making it a very accessible destination for SCCS families.

Ridge Haven Cono partners with SCCS to offer students who are entering third through eighth grade a special group rate to attend a week of overnight camp in July. This is an opportunity for our students to experience an out-of-town adventure in the company of their SCCS friends. Camp Cono is staffed by its own counselors, but students are also accompanied by two SCCS staff members who accompany them during the week. We love this partnership because Camp Cono is a great overnight camp experience that is also exceptionally affordable for our families!

Ridge Haven hosted in-person camp safely and successfully during the 2020 summer camp season at both of their locations by adhering to careful pandemic protocols in cooperation with their local department of health. They will continue abiding by up-to-date pandemic protocols during in-person camp for the summer 2021 season. You can read more about their COVID-19 policies here.

Registration

Before registering, please read the registration instructions for groups provided by Ridge Haven (which includes the link to their online registration form). Laura Lee Bausell, Director of Extended Day Programs and Summer Camp at SCCS, will provide you with our school’s group registration i.d. number. Please email her at [email protected] to request this. Plan on submitting a separate online registration form for each child and paying a $75 deposit fee per child directly to Ridge Haven upon registration. This will be applied to the total cost of your child’s camp week. The remaining balance is paid by check to South City Community School and is due by July 9. Ridge Haven will be in communication with all families about next steps and what you need to know to prepare for camp. Each family is responsible for their own transportation to and from camp, but SCCS will assist families who want to coordinate and share transportation with each other. If you have any questions about Camp Cono please do not hesitate to email Laura Lee Bausell.
