Celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week at South City Community School

Melanie Korn

Teacher Appreciation Week is a special time at South City Community School—a moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate the incredible educators who make our school a place of purpose, joy, and meaningful learning for students from preschool through 8th grade.

Intentionally located near Tower Grove Park, our school is more than a place of academics—it’s a community rooted in faith, curiosity, and the formation of the whole child. And at the center of it all are our teachers.

Faith That Shapes the Classroom

Our teachers are deeply committed to an education that points a child to Christ. As a Christian, Bible-believing school, our educators don’t just teach Scripture—they bring it alive for each child. Their love for God and His word flows naturally into the classroom, guiding students to understand truth, develop character, and see the beauty of God’s creation.

Whether through daily lessons or quiet moments of reflection, students are invited to grow in faith while discovering the wonder and order of the world around them. From nature study to thoughtful discussion, learning becomes an opportunity to see God’s hand in all things.

A Different Approach to Learning

At South City Community School, our teachers are empowered to teach with intention and creativity. Through our strategic plan, they receive ongoing professional development that supports both excellence and freedom in the classroom.

This means less emphasis on excessive testing and memorization—and more focus on:

  • Exploration and discovery
  • Habit formation and character development
  • Cultivating a genuine love of learning

Our teachers meet students where they are, using methods they know will best support growth. The result? Students who are not just learners—but thinkers, explorers, and problem-solvers.

Experienced Educators, Purposefully Called

Many of our teachers bring years of experience from both public and private education settings. What drew them to SCCS was a desire for something different—something deeper.

While each story is unique, a common thread connects them: a shared commitment to the principles of Charlotte Mason and a passion for faith formation in the classroom. Here, they’ve found the opportunity to teach in a way that aligns with both their professional expertise and their personal calling.

See the Difference for Yourself

There is no better time to experience South City Community School than during Teacher Appreciation Week—when the heart of our school is on full display.

The best way to understand what makes SCCS special is to see our educators in action. We invite you to schedule a tour before the end of May, ahead of summer break, and witness firsthand the joy, purpose, and connection that define our classrooms.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
We are so grateful for our teachers and staff—and the lasting impact they make each and every day.
