Ditto Family Resale Gives $50,000

Melanie Korn

Ditto Family Resale is a nonprofit resale store serving eight local Christian schools, one being South City Community School. Profits each year are given to these partner schools to provide scholarships, helping to offset rising tuition costs and assist families who could not otherwise afford a Christian education. To date, Ditto has distributed almost $1.5 MILLION for this purpose! Ditto also shares a portion of earnings with other public and private schools in the area – an aim inspired by Hebrews 13:16 and championed by our school leaders since Ditto’s inception. Recent recipients include North Glendale Elementary in Glendale and Hudson Elementary in Rock Hill.

A shopping destination for the entire family, Ditto’s 11,000 square foot showroom features donated clothing, shoes, and accessories for men, women, and kids – plus jewelry, home décor, furniture, linens, kitchenware, art, books, toys, seasonal items, and more! Ditto’s regularly rotating mix of gently used and “new with tags” items provides shoppers a fresh selection each time they visit. Member school volunteers work alongside paid employees and a growing number of community volunteers to run the store.

This year, Ditto generously donated $50,000 to each of it’s partner schools. To date, they have distributed an average of 76% of their total annual income, with an 80% distribution rate in FY2021.

In FY2020 each of the eight partner schools received $15,000 and in FY2019, $36,000.

These resources will directly impact the families of SCCS and increase the opportunities for many to receive an education rooted in Christian faith, shaped by a Charlotte Mason educational philosophy and is affordable for all in the City of St Louis.

We believe that our well-being and effectiveness depends upon many relationships of mutual support within our local community and beyond.  If you or your business may be interested in a future partnership with SCCS, learn more here.
